Program Coordinator

As a former foster youth, Kevin Bristow brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to UC Merced as the Guardian Scholars Program coordinator. 

Kevin was previously the founding coordinator of the Renaissance Scholars Program for foster youth at California State University, East Bay.

Prior to that, he served as an education specialist for the Contra Costa County Independent Living Skills Program. He was also a long-time member of California Youth Connection, a legislative advocacy group for foster youth.

In 2012, Kevin was elected to the Ohlone Community College Board of Trustees where he helped to oversee a two-campus district.

In addition, he has served on numerous local and state-wide committees and advisory boards in the fields of child welfare and higher education. He has been a guest speaker and conducted numerous professional development trainings and workshops for various social service, non-profit, and higher education institutions on the needs of foster youth in higher education. 

Kevin received his B.A. in Psychology from CSU, Chico and his Masters in Public Administration from CSU, East Bay. Kevin has been a determined advocate and ally for foster youth for many years and hopes to continue that tradition for the youth attending UC Merced.
