Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (H&HAW)

The purpose of Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is to raise awareness about the realities and experiences of homelessness, offer opportunities to give back to the homeless community through donations and service, and share resources and information on how we can better support individuals experiencing homelessness at and around UC Merced. This year, the Guardian Scholars Program hosted a series of events focused on educating and engaging the community. These included activities that promoted ways to donate and give back, trivia on hunger and homelessness, a panel featuring community resources, and a film screening followed by a discussion highlighting the importance of awareness and education. The week kicked off with more than 99 students in attendance, including a film centered on homelessness, along with collaborative tabling efforts to further share information and resources.
