The Guardian Scholars Program proudly hosted its 7th annual Gift Box Project. This community engagement and outreach initiative focused on collecting funds, warm clothing, and personal hygiene items for local foster youth. Through the Creative Alternatives program, gift boxes and Amazon gift cards were distributed to foster youth in the Merced community. This year, we successfully reached our goal with 77 gifts donated. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to the success of the 7th annual Gift Box Project.
This past year, we also partnered with the Community Engagement Center, and the collaboration proved to be highly successful. In addition to providing support, the project served as an outreach opportunity to encourage local foster youth ages 18 and older to consider applying to UC Merced and exploring higher education opportunities.
