Socials
Socials are informal gatherings for scholars to get more acquainted with each other and the Guardian Scholars staff.
Workshops
The program offers its scholars both academic and life skill workshops. These workshops are intended to serve as learning experiences and provide students with useful skills. Some of the workshops offered in the past include: Preparing for Graduate School, Professional Branding, Imposter Syndrome, and First Gen Success. Some workshops are done in collaboration with the Career and Professional Advancement center, Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education Center (CARE), and other programs in the Bright Success Center (BSC).
Mentorship
Guardian Scholars receive one-on-one mentorship from the Program Coordinator and the Student Coordinators to ensure both personal and academic success. Peer 2 Peer refers to the Student Coordinator meetings that all of the scholars are required to have each semester. In these meetings, scholars get one-on-one mentorship and can discuss academics, career goals and aspirations, personal stories, and just life.
Liaison Services
Guardian Scholars staff will work closely with key departments and officials to make sure that students' needs are met efficiently and with minimal difficulty. Some common departments that we work closely with include the Dean of Students, Financial Aid, and Housing. If we are unable to directly assist you, we will try to connect you with a particular contact at a UC Merced department/office.
